Business Strategy

Our goal is to maximize the potential of our innovative alphavaccine technology and realize the growth potential of the vaccine marketplace through a mixture of in-house and partnered programs. Our main strategies to achieve these goals are:

Develop a broad product pipeline

We are currently advancing two in-house infectious disease product programs. The corporate partnerships and grant-funded programs we attract help us extend our pipeline and more fully exploit the broad product potential of this technology in other infectious disease and tumor immunotherapy fields. Additionally, our biodefense grant programs have the potential to deliver procurement contracts from the Federal Government based on accelerated product approval strategies.

Establish proprietary manufacturing expertise and capability

We employ our development know-how and proprietary manufacturing processes to accelerate product development and clinical trials, facilitating partnerships and expanding their value. We have a strong development team with expertise in process development, manufacturing, and regulatory affairs, and GMP-compliant clinical trial material production capability at a leased BSL-3 vaccine facility in Lenoir, North Carolina.

Leverage technology development via grant funding

Our business model drives progress while minimizing the use of equity funds. Of the $133 million in funding and revenues that we have raised, ~70% has come from grants; our cumulative net loss over our first nine years of operation was $24 million.
